Quite a light program for today, we headed to Soho for an intense shopping session. Our first experience in a yellow cab was quite a success with no major incident to report. As we are still adapting to the time shift, we got to Soho quite early but apparently most shop open at 11 on Saturday :-(
The good news of the day was that no taxes are applied on any sales and as every shops in the area are feeling the crunch everybody is on discount mode... Temperature is climbing and nearing the 30s, nice:
- Sun in the City, check.
- Credit Crunch in the City, check.
- Bargains in the City, check.
After a few rounds of Armani Exchange, American Eagle, Levi's... We went to an English pub to enjoy a bit more of the fine food America has to offer. A few burgers and beers later we were back on our shopping spree armed with a credit card ready to draw.
Around 3:30 pm we called it a day, everybody happy with their purchase and our on way to the next part of the day, Wine tasting. Quick shower, change of clothes and we're back in the street, trying to find a cab for a 1/2 hour, always a pleasant experience...
Around 5 pm we joined Nicolas' cousin who invited us for a rosé wine tasting session where she works at Benoit a restaurant owned by the infamous Alain Ducasse. We were not sure about the dress code so Marie and I dressed cool and Aurelie and Nicolas a little less casual. In the end it didn't really matter as once we pronounced the name "Charlotte" we were welcome like old friends.
Obviously being a french restaurant all the wine we tasted was french... does it matter after the 20 first rounds? Not really... In the end we all felt a little happy and we then moved back to the streets and hit the rockfeller center for a breath of fresh air.
We then drove back to the hotel, had a bottle of champagne and played a game of time's up (we have a few epic videos BTW) and then off to bed after a long and sunny day :-)
