Day 2 - The Aftermath...

Thanks to Nicolas and I we all had a very early albeit enjoyable breakfast in bed. Today we're switching to a more acceptable form of accomodation, no stress, we're now in full holiday mode, ready to conquer the city!!!

Check out is not until 11am, so we have a good 3 hours to hit the city.

First we stumbled upon Madison Square Garden, nice but apparently there is no event during our stay apart from a Grateful Dead concert...hum... But we may have a ray of hope, if the Rangers loose on Saturday we're in for a match on Sunday at the Square. So let's not send our support to the Rangers tomorrow and hope for the worst :-)

Next on our agenda is the Empire State Building, ok it's tall, it's nice inside but too many people, no time, we'll come back later, actually much later as the observatory is opened until 2am everyday. Then we had to stop at the library to procure a much needed map and a few postcards that we'll probably never send, but it had to be done.

Sadly it was already time to go back to our favorite hostel to check out and transfer, good bye wonderful place of 1001 luxuries and delights!!! Our new place the Savoy is only 2 blocks from there so we didn't have time for a minute of silence...

Next on our agenda, enjoy local delicacies for lunch, choice was tough, but unanimously, we decided to settle for America's finest: Burger King.

After a much deserved dose of carbohydrates and other saturated fat, we hit the MTA to go the American Museum of Natural History. In the station we managed again to find some people from north of France, Boulogne sur Mer this time, apparently there is a mass exodus from Lille and its surroudings...

The museum is a great place to visit, where animals (stuffed ones) are placed in a very detailed reproduction of their natural habitat. But the best part is the dinosaur section, they have a TRex skeleton, various Raptors and a nice collection of herbivores.

We spent about 2 1/2 hours touring the museum but in consideration of the very fine weather, we decided that it was time to try Central Park. Central Park, what a nice place, a beautiful piece of nature surrounded by a mass of concrete buildings each taller and bigger than the other one, what a contrast...

We finished the day by walking back to the hotel, crossing Broadway and Times Square with its thousand lights and advertisment, a quick 30 minutes dinner later we were all asleep getting ready for another day in the city.
